A new month is around the corner so let’s have a look at what content to pin and create in May.

Pinterest is all about trends! And as a business marketing your products/services on the platform it is important to be aware of them.

There are several ways to stay up to date with the Pinterest Trends. The Clever Pins’ Perfect Pinterest Planner is a handy document which gives you all the Pinterest trends in one overview.

The other way to identify trends on Pinterest is to use the Pinterest Trends Tool. This tool was introduced in the beginning of 2020 and is a great way of identifying trends on Pinterest. To find it go to Analytics -> Trends. Type in any search term and Pinterest will show you how this has performed over the last year.

Also make sure you haven’t missed Pinterest Predicts 2021. This is a great report issued by Pinterest of all the trends for the coming year.

So let’s have a look at what content to pin and create in May 2021.

I mentioned summer in last month’s trends blog and if you haven’t started putting your content out there yet you need to really do it in May. With the world slowly, slowly going back towards some sort of normality, pinners are looking at anything summer related.

Searches are going up for holiday accommodation and tips on what to pack for a summer holiday or weekend away. They are looking for travel tips and destination reviews as well as summer fashion trends. Searches for camping trips and essentials are on the up as well.

If you are in the food and drinks industry, hit the platform with your summer and BBQ recipes and how to make the perfect summer cocktail!

For the DIY industry, pinners are searching for summer garden bar ideas and summer sheds.

Weddings can happen again in the UK. From 17 May for a maximum of 30 people and from 21 June, hopefully, all limitations will be removed. This means that if you are in the wedding industry you need to promote your content NOW. With so many couple having had to postpone their wedding from last year, weddings are going to be big this summer.

Father’s Day

Father’s day is around the corner. Do you sell gifts for men? You should be pushing your content out there. Other search terms are father’s day presents, recipes, gift guides, gift cards and arts and crafts.

I mentioned this trend in the April Trends blog. Schools and colleges are back in the UK and some schools, my children’s included, are planning some sort of graduation ceremony. Pinners are searching for graduation party ideas, tips and gift guides.

Remember pinners are planners, they look ahead now more than ever because of the pandemic. So if you want to be marketing your products/services on the platform you need to think ahead and look at what special days are coming up. For this type of content it is good practice to start pinning at least 45 days before the actual event.

I hope above is helpful and you will be able to create new content that drives traffic.

Make sure you get the Clever Pins’ Perfect Pinterest Planner to help you with your content.
