Can you believe April is around the corner? This means we need to start thinking about what content to pin and create for the next month!

We know pinners are planners, they look ahead now more than ever because of the pandemic. So if you want to be marketing your products/services on the platform you need to think ahead and look at what special days are coming up. For this type of content it is good practice to start pinning at least 45 days before the actual event. 

As Pinterest is a search engine it is important to be aware of the trends – specific keywords that get searched. Knowing which keywords to use in your content and in your own searches this month will optimise your chances to drive traffic to your website. 

There are several ways to stay up to date with the Pinterest Trends. The Clever Pins’ Perfect Pinterest Planner is a handy document which gives you all the Pinterest trends in one overview. 

The other way to identify trends on Pinterest is to use the Pinterest Trends Tool. This tool was introduced in the beginning of 2020 and is a great way of identifying trends on Pinterest. To find it go to Analytics -> Trends. Type in any search term and Pinterest will show you how this has performed over the last year. 

Also make sure you haven’t missed Pinterest Predicts 2021. This is a great report issued by Pinterest of all the trends for the coming year. 

What content to pin and create

Weekends away

As I mentioned last month the UK is slowly coming out of lockdown and this means pinners will be searching for inspiration for weekends away. This is anything from accommodation, to what to pack for a weekend away, destinations and meal inspiration. 

Easter

Easter is literally around the corner so if you have not put your content out there yet, you need to do it quickly. Searches with regards to Easter egg hunt, Easter basket, Easter recipes to name a few have been going up. 

Father’s Day

Father’s day this year is on 20 June. Still a little while away but if this is your main audience start getting your content out onto the platform. I am thinking, Father’s day presents, recipes, gift guides, gift card arts & crafts and anything to make dad’s day special. 

Summer

Another couple of months and we will be hitting summer. It is going to be here quicker than you know. Searches for summer holidays, fashion, staycations, BBQ are already going up so why not start prepping your content now?

Earth Day

Earth Day is on 22 April this year and the theme is ‘Restore our Earth’. ‘The theme is based on the emerging concept that rejects the idea that our only options to save the planet are to mitigate or adapt to the impacts of climate change and other environmental damage. Scientists, non-governmental organizations, business, and governments worldwide now are looking at natural system processes and emerging green technologies to restore the world’s ecosystems and forests, conserve and rebuild soils, improve farming practices, restore wildlife populations and rid the world’s oceans of plastics’ (earthday.org). How is your business helping this initiative? Make sure you use the month of April to inform your audience. 

Graduation

In ‘normal’ years searches around graduation would now see an increase but seeing half the world is still in lockdown I am not expecting this trend to be as strong as in previous years. However, if your target market is in the UK you might be ok as schools and colleges are going back and there might even be some small graduation parties happening.

Finally
